October is Arts and Humanities Month!

An extravaganza of Art Events will take place in the City of Sonora during the month of October along with other cultural activities throughout the county.

Beginning on October 4 and 5:  “3^rd Annual CELEBRATE ART” will kick off the month’s festivities at the Sonora Opera Hall.  This annual event will be expanded to include the 62 Annual Mother Lode Art Association Juried Art Show & The Sonora Photo Club Juried Photography Show at the same location.  Paintings and Photographs will be available for sale.  Celebrating California Arts Day!

“Sign Painters” celebrating the hand-painted sign industry, an American Tradition.  This Documentary “SIGN PAINTERS” explores a fascinating insight into a highly specialized underground trade, emphasizing an appreciation for a balance between art and commerce.

DAYTIME DEMONSTRATIONS BY SIGN PAINTER ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE U.S. WILL BE DEMONSTRATING:  SIGN PANELS (Available for purchase for local businesses and residents).  GOLD LEAF & FINE HAND LETTERING DEMONSTRATIONS
