TUOLUMNE COUNTY SHINES IN THE FALL SEASON

Tuolumne County, California is located approximately 2 ½ hours east of San Francisco.  The north entrance to Yosemite National Park (as well as over 50% of Yosemite National Park) is located in Tuolumne County.  As the busy summer season winds down, Tuolumne County continues to welcome visitors from all over the world.

Visitors come to Tuolumne County for its rich Gold Rush history.  With two state parks located in Tuolumne County, Columbia State Historic Park and Railtown 1897, as well as a number of historic Gold Rush towns, there are plenty of ways to become immersed in the County’s colorful past.   Events held throughout the year and throughout the County celebrate this rich history.

Fall in Tuolumne County is spectacular.  If Fall colors are what you’re looking for you will not be disappointed.  Towards the end of September and into October you can view the magnificent bright reds, yellows and oranges in places like historic downtown Sonora, the County seat for Tuolumne County.  The leaf-peeping season is extended when traveling into Tuolumne County’s High Country via Highway 108 east (towards Pinecrest and Strawberry) and Highway 120 south (towards Yosemite National Park).
