A Perfect Spring Drive – Don’t Forget Your Camera!
When you are traveling to and from Yosemite on Highway 120, the Northern Gateway to the park and the most direct route for the entire San Francisco – San Jose Bay Area and all points northward, consider this little side trip for the scenery:
Ferretti Road is a loop off of Highway 120 that travels through the edges of the community of Pine Mountain Lake, past pastoral horse farms and lovely meadows, and a portion of the Stanislaus National Forest too. The drive offers views of the Tuolumne River gorge, as well as the distant mountain peaks of Sonora Pass and the north west corner of Yosemite National Park too.
Catch the Ferretti Road loop from Highway 120 in the center of Groveland, the intersection is at the local Museum and Library, a great place to stop and enjoy the exhibits and movie about the area. Or catch the loop at it’s eastern end, at Casa Loma where the White Water outfitters meet their guests for the trip down to the river, near the junction of Highway 120 and Smith Station Road. Enjoy!
