Local City & County Parks

Sonora City Parks

Dragoon Gulch Trail

This trail system meanders through the oak woodlands above the city of Sonora.  There is a trail for all skill levels, up to a 2 ½ miles loop which rewards hikers with a fantastic view of the city when they reach the top.   Hikers can see the creek, local flora and fauna, water insects, wild flowers and mine tailings left over from Sonora’s mining past, or they can relax under Manzanita canopies.  Trailhead parking is behind Wood Creek Rotary Park. Map and pictures here.

Woods Creek Rotary Park (off of HWY 49/Stockton Street on Woods Creek Drive) has a small playground, barbecue and picnic facilities and a baseball diamond,

Coffill Park is in downtown Sonora below the street level with benches, picnic area and a creek running through.  Access from stairs on Washington St or level from Green Street.

Grisby Park is located just behind Coffill Park across Green Street. This small park is perfect for younger children.

Prospector Park is located off of Bradford Street and this small park with its picnic table and a few benches is home to historic mining equipment.

So if you are headed to Yosemite this is a good leg-stretching stop.
