September 2, 2013 – PINECREST, Calif – Blue skies, lifted spirits and good vibes graced the Dodge Ridge Ski Area over Labor Day weekend as hundreds of people appreciated a beautiful Saturday afternoon while picking up their 2013-14 season passes in anticipation of the upcoming winter. Favorable weather helped clear the skies of smoke from the Rim Fire as winter sports enthusiasts enjoyed live music, catching up with friends and checking out this year’s new gear in the Dodge Ridge Sport Shop.

Dodge Ridge is open for business as usual as additional local forest closures took effect yesterday, Sunday, September 1, 2013.  Dodge Ridge will be open 7 days a week for people to apply for jobs, purchase or pick up their season passes, shop for the latest winter sports equipment or tune-up their current skis or snowboards in preparation for the quickly approaching winter.

Dodge Ridge has been, and continues to be, in daily contact with the Rim Fire Incident Command Team and local U.S. Forest Service Officials and received their complete support for this weekend’s events that lifted the spirits of guests from near and far. In addition, Cal Fire and USFS Officials were on hand to answer questions while representatives of the Strawberry Volunteer Fire Department conducted a raffle to help raise money for the purchase of a new engine for local fire protection.

Dodge Ridge would like to thank the thousands of firefighters who have selflessly risked their lives these past weeks defending the residents and guests of Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties. Their heroic efforts and well executed management of the Rim Fire Campaign have saved the lives and livelihood of countless individuals, families, residents and businesses.  Dodge Ridge has the upmost respect and gratitude for their contributions to our communities and we would all like to extend a heartfelt thank you for everything they’ve done and continue to do.
